Governance
The Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) is a legal entity belonging to the Government of Jamaica, and the portfolio of a Cabinet-appointed minister. As at 2018, the PIOJ functions under the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service.
The minister in charge appoints all members to the board, with the Director General being responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Institute.
An annual report is tabled in the House of Representatives and the Senate.
The directors who serve on the board of management are appointed by the minister and number between six and eight persons who are appointed for terms between three and five years. The chairperson of the board is the Director General.
Day to day management of the institute is done by the Director General supported by public officers qualified for the posts that they hold.
The financial year of the PIOJ runs from January to December and audited reports are to be tabled in the House of Representatives and the Senate.
